April 24, 2020, by Jeff Duggan
The cashier's are some of the rudest people I've ever had to deal with. The cashier Malik decided to deny me service based on my appearance. Well to be honest that is the only logical reason. The experience I had tonight has me doing something I've never done before, which is I plan on speaking with the store manager and explain the negativity and humiliation I was put thru. I've worked retail for over 10 years so I understand it's a stressful job, but tonight I came in to return 2 items (I had my receipt) my girlfriend has purchased earlier in the day which were things we didn't need. Now I work normally to late night/early morning (I'll be off work anywhere between midnight-2am). Naturally there was nobody behind the counter due to the time which was fine, I got Malik's attention and before I could finish my sentence he denied me service as he put, I had returned items before because they weren't needed or my girlfriend has gotten the wrong thing and that I needed to come back in the morning. Now I have returned items at the CVS for those reasons before (which are valid I think), the last time was 2 nights ago, but is not a regular occurrence and i always a receipt. As this CVS is the only 24 hr remotely near where I live and due to my work schedule I am normally there at what most people would think are odd hours, but those hours are the easiest for me. All of this happened in front of 2 other customers as the cashier wasn't about his disdain for me. Now I said I felt it was due to my appearance. I myself am a 30 year old white male, I currently have a full beard (due to me not shaving on the last week or so) and the clothing I was wearing was what most people would describe as comfortable clothing (large, baggy sweatpants a long sleeve shirt and an unzipped hooded sweatshirt). So yes someone could sit there and say I looked like a bum, but that has nothing to do with how people should treat others. I was made to feel like I had done something wrong just because I wished to return 2 items. This is unacceptable to me. This man passed judgement on me for dont reason that I don't understand. So in a few hours will be the last time I have anything to do with this CVS after I speak with his manager and after I email their corporate office explaining how disappointed and angry i am. Just having to type this out bothers me as I never thought of have to negatively speak about an individual in retail as I've worked for different before and understand what kind of crap they have to deal with daily, but I can't let this slide. If you've read all this sorry for the rant, my opinion skip this CVS, it'll save you from having to write a review like this.
